Paul's Tomb

One of the most popular walking destinations within the Kelowna boundaries is located in the Knox Mountain Park.  To get there, just drive north to the very end of Ellis Street. When you arrive you will have three parking options, depending on how much you want to walk. The first lot is located at the very bottom of the mountain with access to a nice picnic area, the second lot is by the first lookout kiosk with trail access to Paul’s tomb and a natural beach, and the final lot is... I was extremely privileged to call Joey Ryan of Milk Carton Kids and talk to him in Denver, Colorado. The band consists of both Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale. Both growing up in Eagle Rock, California this acoustic duet keeps true to their nature of playing with only their guitars and voices. Right now these songwriters are headed across North America with: Aoife O'Donovan, The Barefoot Movement and Molly Tuttle, keep reading to see how our conversation went. Hey Joey, how are you? Myra Canyon Railway Trestles

The Kettle Valley Railway, opened in 1915, was a primary transportation and communications route connecting the southern interior of BC to the coast. In 1973 the section of the railway that ran through Kelowna, known as The Myra Canyon Trestles, closed although other parts remained operational until 1989. In 1993, after some serious accidents had occurred, the Myra Canyon Restoration Society was formed to make the trestles safer for recreational purposes. Run completely by volunteers and... Drunk Punk

Chaotic Moshing Mess

Let’s start with a song from The Ramones, “Bop Till You Drop” which describes last night quite well. . . So put that song on and let’s get started. I was on my way to a punk show at Kelowna’s downtown venue, The Habitat. The bands playing this night were: The Wild, Shithawk, Dayglo Abortions and The Casualties. The only band worth mentioning to check out would be Dayglo Abortions who I sadly missed play, but that’s something I’ll explain later. This... [Keep Reading]

Art Night Out

Yesterday's art & This Weeks Music

For my first post, I thought I’d switch things up and cover an art show, so last night I was at The Alternator gallery in Kelowna, taking photos of some interesting pieces. The exhibit was titled, Capture - The Human Body. I got there a bit late and there was almost no one there when I arrived. However, I did get a chance to talk to a few friends and see some really great pieces, along with taking a few decent photos. It's so nice to see good art coming out of the Okanagan, whether...
